Firefighters from multiple departments were called to a fire on Dresserville Road in Moravia on Tuesday afternoon.
The structure fire was reported at about 5:20 p.m, and members of the Moravia Fire Department arrived to find the home’s kitchen fully involved, according to Moravia Chief Bill Andersen.
Firefighters were able to knock the fire down after approximately 30 minutes, Andersen said. Andersen added that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The lone occupant of the home at the time was able to escape without injuries, while the home suffered significant heat and smoke damage throughout.
Dresserville Road was temporarily closed in the area of the fire so that fire trucks could reach the home.
Along with Moravia, fire departments from Locke, Sempronius, Groton, Cortlandville New Hope and Owasco also responded, and Fleming Fire Department covered Moravia’s station.
