OurBus will move its downtown Ithaca stop from East Seneca Street to 235 S. Cayuga St., beside the South Cayuga parking garage, on Monday, Nov. 9.

The City of Ithaca announced the move Friday as part of a broader transit initiative that also shifts two TCAT stops on East Seneca Street. The city says the new OurBus location is a short walk from the Ithaca Commons and offers connections to TCAT, more parking and better accessibility.

The city is working with OurBus to provide signage, benches and other amenities at the new stop to help passengers adjust.

“We've been connecting Ithaca travelers to New York City and beyond for nearly a decade, and we know how important convenient access to downtown is for our passengers,” OurBus co-founder Axel Hellman said. “While the stop is changing, our commitment to serving Ithaca isn't. We appreciate the city's cooperation in helping make the transition as smooth as possible.”

OurBus has served Ithaca since 2017, with year-round connections to New York City, Syracuse and other destinations. Founded in 2016, the company works with local and family-run bus operators to connect more than 300 destinations nationwide.

Where TCAT riders will board

TCAT's Route 10 will remain on North Tioga Street. The two East Seneca Street stop changes take effect the same day as the OurBus move.

The first East Seneca Street stop will move about 60 yards east from the corner of North Cayuga Street to the area between Dewitt Mall and Tompkins Financial. It will serve routes 11, 11S, 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21, 31W, 40, 43, 51, 52, 65 and 67.

The second stop will move to the corner of East Seneca and North Tioga streets, the current intercity bus location. It will serve TCAT's high-frequency routes 30, 30W and 90.

The city plans further updates affecting residents, parking customers and transit users as information becomes available. TCAT will post service and stop updates on its website, its real-time Bus Tracker and the MyStop app.
