An Auburn woman faces two felony charges after investigators said unreported income led to $1,223 in excess SNAP benefits, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies arrested Maria Gonzalez, 45, on Oct. 28 on an outstanding warrant issued by Auburn City Court, Sheriff Brian Schenck said in a news release Friday.
Gonzalez was charged with fourth-degree welfare fraud and fourth-degree grand larceny, both Class E felonies.
Investigators said she failed to report income, resulting in the overpayment of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits.
She was processed at the Public Safety Building and issued an appearance ticket as directed by Auburn City Court.
The Cayuga County Department of Social Services Case Integrity Unit investigates these cases with assistance from the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division and the Cayuga County District Attorney's Office.
