REMEMBERING: Jyree Louis Bowens, 31, of Sodus

Jyree Louis Bowens, 31, of Sodus, New York, passed away unexpectedly, October 27, 2026. Jyree was born on April 5, 1995, in Sodus, New York, to Pamela Brundidge and Napoleon Bowens.

Jyree was truly a light to everyone she met. Her smile could light up a room and make even the hardest day a little brighter.

She was fiercely loyal, deeply protective, and always there for the people she loved. She was an incredible daughter who was constantly looking out for her mom and ready to help with anything she needed.

Jyree had many friends, but she also had a special circle of close friends who had become family. She showed up for the people she loved in the big moments and the small ones, the celebrations and the difficult days. Jyree was there.

Jyree had an incredibly generous heart. One of the ways she loved people best was through gift-giving. She was observant and thoughtful, always finding just the right gift to show someone how much she cared. Her gifts were never simply things; they were expressions of her love and the thought she had put into knowing the people around her.

Jyree loved music and sports. She was a loyal fan of the Boston Celtics and Arizona Cardinals. She also loved good food and could never turn down a Chinese buffet.

Jyree walked faithfully with her Savior, Jesus Christ. She devotedly attended Lakeshore Community Church where she loved hearing her brother play drums on the worship team. She would diligently take notes during the message eager to learn and grow in her faith. Her relationship with Christ was a deeply meaningful part of her life. She had a strong faith that had developed out of the hardest of times.

Jyree was a beloved secretary at Brighton High School where she touched the lives of countless students and staff members. She was reliable, hardworking, and patient; she had a smile for everyone who walked through the door. She cared deeply about the people around her, and her presence made Brighton High School a better place.

But perhaps Jyree’s favorite role in life was being an aunt. She was the best Titi to her niece and nephew, whom she loved beyond words. She was fun, loving, and always wanting to make memories with “her babies.” She never turned down an opportunity to watch them. They adored their Titi, and she adored them right back.

Remembering others from the community

Jyree’s life was marked by love, a love for her family, her friends, her coworkers, and her Savior. She gave so much of herself to the people around her, and the love she shared will continue to live on in everyone who was blessed to know her.
