REMEMBERING: Beryl Ann Quade, 89, of Geneva

Beryl Quade, 89, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday September 10, 2026 with her family by her side. Beryl was born on August 19, 1937 in Rochester, NY and was the daughter of the late William E. and Beryl E. (MacDonald) Thomas.

Growing up, Beryl had a great love for animals, especially her horse Corky, who she loved to ride at any opportunity. She was always bringing home wayward or injured animals sometimes to the bemusement of her parents. At Nazareth Academy she also enjoyed basketball and participating in church activities until she graduated in 1955.

Her faith in and love for her Lord Jesus, which began when she was very young, grew throughout her entire life. No matter where she called home, she always was deeply involved in the local Catholic church community through which she developed many close, life long friendships. Her service in the church and community were expressed in numerous roles such as cantor, eucharistic minister, Martha Ministry volunteer and lector. Perhaps her greatest gift, though, was her voice. Beryl possessed a powerful operatic voice that she utilized not only in church services but In the Keene (NH) Pops and private events as well. That voice is now gracing her Lord with its excellence.

She worked as both an administrative assistant at GMAC, Rochester Savings Bank (where she met Bob) and St. Patrick's school in Jaffrey, NH and as a gate monitor at Seneca Lake State Park in Geneva. Many of the years following her marriage to Bob, however, were spent at home caring for her sons, her home, her friends and Bob. She very much enjoyed home life and was deeply embedded in the welfare of her family. In her later years she cared for and took great joy and pride in her grandkids the way she cared for her sons.

Remembering others from the community

Beryl is predeceased by her husband Robert H. (Bob) Quade and brother William (Evie) Thomas; step child Bill Quade.

She is survived by her two sons Patrick (Lynn) Quade of New Hamphsire and Justin Quade of Geneva; grandchildren Robert and Nicholas Leroux, Jonathan and Evan Quade; numerous nieces and nephews; step children Rhonda Quade, Douglas (Susan) Quade, Ann (Gregory) Pelton and their children.

Friends may attend a graveside service on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 1:00 pm at Glenwood Cemetery, Geneva, NY.
