Vote for your favorite song: a Finger Lakes band wins $1,000

Vote for your favorite song: a Finger Lakes band wins ,000

FLX Music’s new Band Bonus pays the local band whose song gets the most fan votes: $500 in November, $1,000 in December.

There’s a good chance a band you’ve seen at a winery, brewery or lakeside bar this year has a song you’ve never heard outside that room. FLX Music wants to change that, and this fall it’s putting real money behind it.

The Finger Lakes streaming and live-events platform is launching the Band Bonus, a monthly cash prize for the local band whose song earns the most fan votes. The November winner takes home $500. In December, the prize doubles to $1,000.

Fans decide

There’s no panel of judges. Every vote comes from someone listening to the music:

  • A like counts 10 votes
  • A listen by a signed-in fan counts 2
  • Any listen counts 1
  • Each person who arrives at a song from a shared link counts 1 vote per day

The race is public all month on FLX Music, so fans can watch their favorite band climb, or slip, in real time.

How Local Bands Qualify

Any Finger Lakes band can compete for free, but FLX Music only streams music from bands with an upcoming event in the Finger Lakes, so a band’s songs can collect votes only while the band has an event on the calendar. To qualify, a band claims its free FLX Music profile, uploads at least one song and lists at least one upcoming Finger Lakes event. Many local bands already have a profile waiting for them.  Each month’s winner is announced on flxmusic.co and the FLX Music Facebook page in the first week of the following month. Full rules are on the Band Bonus page.

FLX Music Group

FLX Music Group, Inc. is a Finger Lakes company building one home for the region’s live music. Its platform, flxmusic.co, puts local bands, venues and events in one place: every event is tied to the venue hosting it, and every live-music event to the bands playing it. Bands get a free profile to post their events, stream their music to local listeners and see how both perform. Venues get a profile that helps fans find what’s on tonight. And because FLX Music only streams bands with an upcoming Finger Lakes event, every song points to a stage nearby. FLX Music was founded by Jason Bunnell.
