The national average price of regular gasoline fell five cents over the past week to $4.22 a gallon ahead of Halloween, according to AAA.
Crude oil prices above $100 a barrel are limiting how much drivers save at the pump, AAA said in its Oct. 29 update.
The national average cost of public electric vehicle charging was unchanged at 41 cents per kilowatt-hour. That figure measures electricity used for charging, rather than the per-gallon price paid by gasoline drivers.
AAA also urged drivers to watch for pedestrians during the holiday weekend. Halloween falls on Saturday this year, followed by the end of daylight saving time Sunday, Nov. 1.
The organization advised motorists to slow down, put distractions away and pay particular attention at crosswalks and in neighborhoods where children may be trick-or-treating.
The figures are national averages; the update did not provide a separate New York gasoline price.
