Amy Lewis Sweetman, the artist behind the Apple sculpture on the Ithaca Commons, is featured in the October episode of Cornell University's Startup Cornell podcast.
Sweetman, a 2008 Cornell graduate and owner of Agrisculpture, creates metal sculptures from antique farm equipment, often drawing on forms found in nature. Cornell said her recent work includes a memorial to people killed in Ukraine and a railing depicting the Appalachian Trail.
Sweetman studied architecture at Cornell and started her design firm in 2011. An installation she made at Burning Man in 2010 and an appearance in a Japanese documentary that year preceded the firm's launch, according to the university.
She has since completed hundreds of projects, including the downtown Ithaca Apple sculpture. The podcast episode explores her work and the Cornell connections she has made during her career.
Startup Cornell interviews university-affiliated entrepreneurs about their businesses and career experiences. The episode is available through Entrepreneurship at Cornell and major podcast platforms.
