A Savannah woman was arrested Tuesday after State Police said she used another person's information to open a credit card account and make about $3,000 in unauthorized charges.
Chelsea Kinser, 36, was charged with first-degree identity theft, a Class D felony, and fourth-degree grand larceny, a Class E felony, according to a State Police release.
The investigation began Aug. 11, when troopers responded to a residence in the town of Savannah for a report of identity theft.
Police said the account had been opened with another person's personal information without permission.
Investigators allege Kinser used the account to make payments associated with her residence.
The identity theft charge concerns obtaining goods worth more than $2,000, while the grand larceny charge concerns property worth more than $1,000, police said.
Kinser was processed at the State Police barracks in Wolcott and released on an appearance ticket for Savannah Town Court on Oct. 15.
