Weedsport man charged after knife threat at motel, deputies say

An 18-year-old Weedsport man was charged after deputies said he displayed a large kitchen knife and threatened to kill another person during an argument at a local motel.

Brian Bell III was arrested Saturday night at the Rodeway Inn and Suites, 2709 Erie Drive, according to an Oct. 6 Cayuga County Sheriff's Office release.

Deputies responded to a weapon complaint at about 7:56 p.m. Saturday. After interviewing those involved, they determined Bell had displayed the knife and threatened the other person, the release said.

Bell was charged with second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both misdemeanors. He was processed at the county Public Safety Building and arraigned in centralized arraignment court.

He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Weedsport Village Court at 7 p.m. Oct. 12.
