Two Midlakes seniors are organizing the first of three school blood drives this academic year, with the next donation event set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 29 at Midlakes High School.
Neveah Bowen and Emma Labour are coordinating the drives through the Midlakes Athletic Leadership Organization and the American Red Cross, according to an Oct. 6 release from the Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District.
The students have been recruiting donors for the October event. The district said two more drives are planned for March 17 and May 26, 2027.
Prospective donors can search for the Midlakes High School drive at redcrossblood.org and select an available appointment. The district said donors must be in good health and meet Red Cross eligibility requirements; 16-year-old donors may need parental consent.
Bowen and Labour may qualify for Red Cross scholarships based on their work organizing the drives, the district said.
