ESL Federal Credit Union ranked 29th among 50 large companies on a 2026 national workplace list. It was the Rochester credit union's first appearance in the large-company category.
The 2026 ranking lists the Rochester-based credit union at No. 29. ESL said it moved into the large-company group after its workforce grew beyond 1,000 employees. It previously appeared on the small and medium-sized company list for 10 years.
Great Place to Work said companies with at least 1,000 employees qualify for the large-company category. Its financial services and insurance rankings are based on employee survey responses from certified companies in the industry. More than 194,000 responses were received from employees at companies eligible for the 2026 list, according to the organization.
Maureen Wolfe, ESL's executive vice president and chief administrative officer, said in a release that the credit union was honored to make the list for an 11th consecutive year and that the shift to the large-company category was especially meaningful. She said supporting employees remains a focus as ESL expands.
ESL said it has more than 465,000 members and 18,800 business customers. The credit union operates 33 branches, employs more than 1,000 people in the Greater Rochester and Finger Lakes region, and has more than $10.8 billion in assets, according to the release.
