Octobank at Sibos Miami 2026: Building Uzbekistan’s Bridges to Global Finance

The international forum in Miami is serving as a platform for the bank to grow its dialogue with foreign financial institutions, payment companies and technology partners

Sibos 2026 is being held in Miami. It is one of the defining international events of the financial industry, bringing together banks, payment companies, fintech companies and representatives of financial infrastructure worldwide. Octobank is participating in the forum for a third straight year, presenting not only its own solutions and international capabilities, but also a broader account of how Uzbekistan’s financial market is changing.

This year, Octobank has its own 48 sq. m stand at Sibos, uniting exhibition and negotiation zones. The core focus is on direct interaction with international financial institutions and on discussing avenues for cooperation in correspondent banking, cross-border payments, clearing, foreign exchange operations, liquidity management and trade finance.

Octobank’s international communication is shaped by the concept:

“Uzbekistan — the New Silk Road of Digital Finance”

Throughout history, the Silk Road connected countries and markets through trade. Today, that mission increasingly belongs to financial infrastructure, payment networks, technology and direct relationships between banks and other financial institutions.

Participation in Sibos enables Octobank to transform this idea from positioning into practical business dialogue.

“Participation in SIBOS allows us to discuss cooperation directly with international partners. We see reciprocal interest in working with Octobank and are ready to respond to it with concrete proposals — digital solutions, expertise and experience in working with business. We expect that the dialogue started here will soon continue in joint projects,” said Hamid Jumaev, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Octobank.

Uzbekistan Moves Up on the International Financial Map

Octobank’s participation in Sibos is happening at a time of significant change in Uzbekistan’s economy and financial sector. As international trade grows, the digital economy develops and cross-border business activity increases, banking infrastructure faces new requirements. Uzbek companies need broader access to international settlements, foreign exchange operations and payment instruments, and foreign financial institutions need reliable partners able to support their operations in the local market. Octobank has been developing this area in a consistent way. As of September 2026, the bank’s assets amount to around USD 1.66 billion, its client base is above 4.9 million people, and its international infrastructure includes relationships with 19 correspondent banks and cooperation with more than 30 financial institutions.

The bank lists the expansion of its international settlement capabilities, including operations in US dollars, euros and Chinese yuan, among its priority areas for further development.

For Octobank, then, Sibos is not only a matter of brand promotion. It is a matter of developing the practical infrastructure that Uzbekistan needs for its further integration into the international financial system.

Exhibition Presence That Leads to Concrete Business Relationships

Octobank’s stand concept is structured to combine business and image-building components. A separate meeting area is allocated for meetings with representatives of international banks, payment organizations and technology companies. Concrete directions of possible cooperation are discussed there, from correspondent relationships and clearing to cross-border payments and foreign exchange operations. At the same time, the open area of the stand introduces Sibos participants not only to Octobank, but also to present-day Uzbekistan. The design incorporates national motifs, and guests are offered traditional Uzbek sweets and keepsakes. In this way, getting acquainted with the bank also means getting acquainted with the country and its culture. This corresponds to the overall logic of Octobank’s international positioning: first introduce the global financial community to the opportunities of modern Uzbekistan, then reveal the bank’s role in its financial system, and then proceed to a substantive business conversation.

Central Asia’s Emerging Financial Routes

Over many years, Central Asia was regarded by the international financial community mainly as a region of remittances and commodity trade. However, the structure of its economy is gradually changing. E-commerce is developing, foreign trade is growing, new technology companies are appearing, and local businesses are becoming more active internationally — all of which creates demand for more sophisticated financial infrastructure. The discussion is no longer limited to remittances; it now extends to direct interbank relationships, international clearing, foreign exchange operations, digital payments and services for companies working in several markets at once. For Uzbekistan, this creates an opportunity to gradually gain a more noticeable place in the financial flows between Central Asia, Asia, the Middle East and Europe. Octobank sees the development of international banking relationships as one of the instruments of this process. That is why the bank’s main task at Sibos is not simply to be present among the largest players in the global financial industry, but to build new working connections inside this system.

Sibos as the First Step Toward Further Cooperation

Sibos 2026 unites more than 10,000 participants from over 160 countries in Miami. This year, discussions center on the development of digital finance, artificial intelligence, cross-border payments and the future of global financial infrastructure. For Octobank, the main outcome of participation should be not the number of stand visitors or brand mentions, but continued dialogue after the forum is over.

The bank expects to carry the negotiations started in Miami forward into further work with international financial institutions, payment companies and technology partners. Thus, Sibos is becoming part of the bank’s longer-term international development strategy. Octobank seeks not merely to tell foreign audiences about Uzbekistan’s transformation, but to build practical international connections that demonstrate this transformation. This is the fundamental idea of the bank’s presence in Miami: the historical Silk Road connected countries through trade, while the modern Silk Road is more and more being shaped by payments, technology and financial infrastructure.
