Customers at a Dansville McDonald's donated nearly $3,000 to Ronald McDonald House in Rochester by rounding up their purchases in August, according to an emailed announcement from the restaurant's representatives.
The Dansville restaurant raised more through the Round-Up program that month than any other McDonald's in the Rochester area, said Michelle McCoy, a Padilla media relations manager who shared the figures Monday.
The restaurant is owned and operated by Louis Buono, McCoy said. She credited customers who chose to add the spare change from their orders to their bills.
Under the program, a customer with an $8.72 order can choose to pay $9, sending the additional 28 cents to the local Ronald McDonald House. The Rochester house supports families with a child receiving critical pediatric care at a local hospital, McCoy said.
McCoy described the nearly $3,000 as the restaurant's August total; the announcement did not provide a more precise figure.
