The New York Yankees announced their 26-man roster for the American League Division Series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday, with Aaron Judge left off the roster for a second consecutive postseason round as he continues to recover from a right calf strain.
The Yankees will carry 11 pitchers and 15 position players for the best-of-five series, with Ryan Weathers replacing Amed Rosario as the lone change from the roster used during the American League Wild Card Series against the Boston Red Sox.
Giancarlo Stanton remains on the roster after serving as a pinch-hitting option against Boston. Stanton did not record an at-bat during the Yankees’ two-game sweep and has not appeared in a game since April because of multiple calf injuries.
Weathers has not pitched since August 22, when he left a start because of a forearm flexor strain. He will be available as a limited one-inning reliever and is not cleared to pitch on consecutive days.
Judge has not played since September 16, when he strained his right calf in his seventh game back after missing more than three months with a fractured rib. He participated in live batting practice multiple times this week, including Friday at Tropicana Field, but did not run on the field.
