The New York Yankees’ regular-season finale against the Baltimore Orioles was canceled Sunday afternoon because of persistent rain at Yankee Stadium, ending New York’s regular season after 161 games.

The game was ultimately called about three hours after the revised start time, and the Yankees never announced a starting lineup.
The cancellation marked the first time since 2002 that New York failed to play all 162 games during a full regular season.
The Yankees finished 93-67 after going 94-67 in each of the previous two seasons.
With the regular season complete, New York now turns its attention to the postseason. The Yankees will host the Boston Red Sox in the American League Wild Card Series, beginning Tuesday night in the Bronx. The best-of-three series opens at 8 p.m., with Cam Schlittler scheduled to start Game 1 for New York.
