Friends and relatives are remembering flight instructors David Kornreich and Andrew Harrell after their deaths in an Aug. 30 plane crash in Enfield, according to The Ithaca Voice.
Kornreich, a 52-year-old Cornell professor, and Harrell, a 31-year-old aircraft mechanic, were flying in Kornreich’s personal amphibious plane when it crashed about half an hour after leaving Ithaca Tompkins International Airport.
Their families described a shared enthusiasm for teaching others to fly, while Harrell had recently reached 1,500 flight hours and was preparing for an airline job interview.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause, and the flight was not an East Hill Flying Club operation.
Harrell’s family plans an Oct. 4 send-off, with those interested in attending invited to contact Justine Simms or the flying club for details.
