A teenage driver was arrested on DWI and other charges following a traffic stop in Penn Yan, according to the Penn Yan Police Department.
Police said officers stopped a vehicle on East Main Street after noticing it didn’t have a valid inspection. A DMV check showed the adolescent driver’s New York driving privileges were suspended.
Officers said the driver also showed signs of intoxication and failed standardized field sobriety tests. The teen was taken to the Yates County Jail, where police said a voluntary chemical breath test showed a blood alcohol content of 0.07%.
The adolescent was charged with DWI, DWI under New York’s under-21 zero-tolerance law, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and operating an uninspected motor vehicle.
The teen’s name was not released. Police said the driver was issued traffic tickets and released to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
