The White House has sent the Senate a slate of 41 nominations that includes federal judges, ambassadors and senior officials for the Navy, Treasury Department and other agencies.
The list includes 12 nominees for U.S. district judgeships and one for a federal appeals court. None of the listed district court seats is in New York. The nominations require Senate consideration; the announcement does not say any nominee has been confirmed.
Among the judicial picks are Samuel D. Adkisson for the Eastern District of Tennessee, Philip Axt for the District of North Dakota, Daniel Lewis Ballou for the Eastern District of Kentucky and Richard Wesley Bennett for the Southern District of Texas. The White House also named Courtney Leigh Coker for the Northern District of Texas and Bradford J. Kelley and Peter M. Mansfield for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
Other district court nominees include Robert E. Long Jr. for the Middle District of Florida, Jesus A. Osete for the Western District of Missouri, Trevor Scott Pemberton for the Northern District of Oklahoma, Kyle Frederick Reardon for the District of Alaska and Zachary Paul West for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Lee Philip Rudofsky was nominated for the Eighth Circuit. James Lewis Quinn was nominated for a 15-year term on the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
The list also seeks new terms on the U.S. Sentencing Commission for Claire McCusker Murray and Luis Felipe Restrepo. The announcement identifies both as reappointments, with terms expiring Oct. 31, 2031.
For the Navy, the White House nominated Hung Cao as secretary, Richard Breckenridge as an assistant secretary and William Toti as under secretary. It nominated Francis Browne as an under secretary of the Treasury and Robert Stebbins, of New York, as that department's general counsel.
Other domestic posts on the list include Heidi Overton for commissioner of food and drugs, Christopher Abbott for an assistant secretary of commerce, Catherine Eschbach for general counsel of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Joshua Shoemaker for NASA chief financial officer. Elliott Hulse was named for chief executive officer of the Millennium Challenge Corporation.
The diplomatic nominees include Wesley Hunt for ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Austin Holmes for ambassador to Haiti, Devin Kennington for ambassador to Somalia and Jane Lynch for ambassador at large for international religious freedom. Kimberly Greenwood was nominated for an ambassadorship covering Barbados and six other Caribbean countries. The White House also named nominees for posts in Djibouti and Suriname and for the U.S. representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
The White House nominations list provides names and proposed positions but no biographies or Senate hearing schedule.
