The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office will hold a free road patrol open house September 16, giving residents a chance to meet deputies and see the equipment used by several specialized units.
The event is scheduled from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Cayuga County Public Safety Building, 7445 County House Road in Auburn. It is open to the public, including families and people considering law enforcement careers.
Visitors can see the sheriff's Incident Command Center, Marine Unit and off-road and ATV patrol resources, according to the office's announcement. Deputies will be available to discuss their work, the office's services and career opportunities.
Sheriff Brian Schenck said the event is meant to let residents meet deputies and learn firsthand about the equipment they use. A companion event flyer also lists food trucks and activities for families.
There is no admission charge. The sheriff's office said anyone interested in learning about road patrol work is welcome.
