Tap Root Fields will hold its eighth annual Harvest Party on Sept. 19, with proceeds benefiting a Skaneateles nonprofit that provides transportation to seniors and adults with physical challenges.
The rain-or-shine event will begin when doors open at 2 p.m. at the Skaneateles farm. Tickets are on sale, according to the event announcement.
Laker Limo, the organization selected to benefit from the party, uses trained volunteer drivers and escorts to take local residents to medical appointments, shopping, banking, social activities and other essential errands. The service is intended to help clients remain independent and connected to the community.
The volunteer-based nonprofit serves adult residents in Skaneateles. It is overseen by a 10-member board and has a part-time executive director and a part-time volunteer and client scheduler, while more than 70 volunteers provide rides and other organizational support during the year.
Four bands will perform
Barroom Philosophers will headline the party with a mix of funk, R&B, soul, blues and reggae-rock. The Upstate New York band formed in 2014 and is known for blending Jamaican roots reggae, psychedelia, Chicago blues and funk.
The lineup also includes Gridley Paige AM Gold Trio, which performs late-1970s and early-1980s yacht-rock favorites; The Mid Daze, a Syracuse-area cover band focused on rock and pop from the 1990s and 2000s; and Soul Risin', a Syracuse jam band that mixes Southern rock, funk, blues, reggae and bluegrass.
Food trucks and event merchandise planned
Food vendors scheduled for the event include Byblos Street Grill, Soup'r Smash Bros and Crispi. Guests will also be able to visit a Skaneateles Fields Resort & Spa tent and connect with representatives of Laker Limo.
Hoodies, shirts and posters featuring custom artwork by artist Steven Cerio will be available for purchase. Cerio's work has included projects involving The Residents, Les Claypool, King Crimson and Nickelodeon, according to the announcement.
Tap Root Fields owner Josh Allyn said the farm selected Laker Limo because its transportation work helps neighbors remain connected and independent. The farm uses regenerative growing practices to produce food and cannabis products in Skaneateles.
