Deputies allege Rivera unlawfully entered the dwelling, struck the woman and followed her into a bathroom, where he put his hand around her throat.

Investigators said Rivera had a switchblade during the incident.

Rivera was charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal obstruction of breathing and second-degree harassment.

He was taken to the Ontario County Jail to await centralized arraignment court proceedings.
