Auburn Fire Department Capt. Brian Donovan has retired after 27 years with the department, ending a career that included service across multiple platoons and apparatus assignments.
Donovan was hired July 19, 1999, and spent most of his early career as a firefighter with D Platoon Truck Company, according to the Auburn Fire Department.
He was promoted to lieutenant on March 11, 2011, and assigned to B Platoon Truck Company. In January 2020, Donovan transferred to A Platoon, Engine Company 3.
Donovan was promoted to captain on May 17, 2024, and assigned to A Platoon Engine Company 4, where he remained until his retirement.
The department recognized Donovan on Tuesday, thanking him for his decades of service and leadership.
Fire officials said his experience and commitment had a lasting impact on the department and the residents he served.
