A Maple Avenue building in Sodus caught fire twice over the weekend, sending firefighters back to the same property early Sunday less than a day after crews had battled an initial blaze.
The first fire was reported early Saturday morning. Sodus Fire Rescue said everyone inside the home made it out safely before firefighters arrived, and the first engine on scene used a deck gun to knock down much of the fire.
Mutual aid came from East Williamson, Wallington, Williamson, Alton and Fairville, with Wayne County fire coordinators, EMS, sheriff’s deputies and state troopers also assisting.
Then, around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, crews were called back to the same home for another fire.
Firefighters from Sodus, Wallington, Alton and East Williamson responded and brought the second blaze under control.
Authorities have not released the cause of either fire, and it remains unclear whether the second incident was a rekindle from the first blaze or started separately.
No injuries were reported over the weekend.
