Cooler weather does not have to put player development on pause. Practice Time Sports is preparing a fall and winter lineup designed to give Canandaigua-area athletes more opportunities to practice, compete and remain active indoors.
The upcoming focus includes HitTrax leagues, baseball and softball clinics, private lessons, specialized softball pitching clinics with Sara Jane Pitching, expanded membership options and the return of Soccer Shots for young children.
Together, these programs give families several ways to find the training format that fits their athletes.
HitTrax leagues bring competition indoors
Batting-cage practice becomes more engaging when every swing contributes to a game.
HitTrax combines ball-tracking technology with simulated baseball and softball action. Players can see the results of their contact, compete in game situations and experience some of the decision-making and pressure that come with a live at-bat.
Fall and winter leagues can help athletes stay connected to competition when outdoor fields are unavailable. They also provide a social reason to keep training, with teammates and opponents gathering for organized indoor games.
League divisions, formats and registration dates may vary. Families should review the current Practice Time Sports schedule to find the appropriate session.
Baseball and softball clinics provide structured practice
Clinics give athletes an organized environment in which to work on a defined skill. Instead of moving randomly between drills, players receive instruction, complete focused repetitions and make adjustments with help from a coach.
The group setting also lets athletes learn by watching their peers. Players see how teammates approach a drill, hear coaching points that may apply to them and work through challenges together.
Practice Time Sports plans to offer both baseball and softball clinics during the colder months. Current clinic topics, age groups and availability will be posted as sessions are scheduled.
Private lessons address individual goals
A clinic may be the right choice for broad skill development, but some athletes need more individualized attention.
Private baseball and softball lessons allow an instructor to focus on one player’s mechanics, habits and goals. A lesson may help an athlete address a persistent problem, understand HitTrax results or create a practice plan that can be repeated between sessions.
Players can get more from private instruction by arriving with one clear priority and writing down the coach’s recommended drills and cues before leaving.
Sara Jane Pitching adds specialized softball instruction
Softball pitching is a specialized position that requires carefully coordinated movement, control and responsible workload management.
Practice Time Sports is partnering with Sara Jane Pitching to host dedicated softball pitching clinics. These sessions will give local pitchers an opportunity to receive position-specific instruction in an indoor setting.
Exact dates, age groups and equipment requirements should be confirmed when registration opens.
Memberships make consistent practice easier
A membership can help turn occasional cage visits into a regular training routine.
The single-athlete membership is designed for one athlete and includes one available 30-minute cage session per day and a HitTrax account.
The family membership covers as many as five members. It includes two available 30-minute cage sessions per day and a HitTrax account for each athlete.
Cage sessions must be reserved in advance and remain subject to availability. Families should review current membership terms before enrolling.
Soccer Shots creates an option for younger children
Practice Time Sports is also partnering again with Soccer Shots to provide indoor soccer programming for children ages 2–6.
At this age, soccer begins with movement, listening, coordination and the excitement of playing with a ball. Age-appropriate activities give young children a welcoming introduction to the sport while helping them build confidence in a group environment.
Practice Time Sports is located at 76 West Ave. in downtown Canandaigua. The facility operates by advance appointment, so families should review current programs and reserve before arriving.
