Cornell Law welcomes 218 students in record-selective J.D. class

Cornell Law School welcomed 218 first-year students in the J.D. Class of 2029 after receiving nearly 6,000 applications, a 29% increase from the previous year.

The class entered with a median LSAT score of 173 and a median grade-point average of 3.94, both school records. Students represent 35 states, the District of Columbia and five countries.


The law school also welcomed 27 exchange students from international partner schools and two transfer students during orientation Aug. 19.

The incoming J.D. students attended 129 undergraduate institutions before arriving in Ithaca, according to Cornell.
