Cornell ILR School Dean Alexander Colvin will deliver the inaugural Robert and Nancy McKersie Labor Day Lecture on Sept. 4 in Ithaca.
The public event, titled "McKersie on Labor at America's 250th," begins at 1:30 p.m. in 105 Ives Hall. A remote option will be available with advance registration.
Colvin plans to examine how the scholarship of former ILR dean Robert "Bob" McKersie applies to current workplace and labor-relations challenges. Current and emeritus faculty hired during McKersie's deanship are also expected to offer reflections.
McKersie led ILR from 1971 to 1979 and helped recruit a generation of faculty whose work shaped the school's approach to industrial and labor relations.
A reception will follow the lecture. The annual event was established through a gift from McKersie and his wife, Nancy.
