Tickets are on sale for the 41st Ontario County ATHENA Awards, one of several fall programs and networking events announced by the Ontario County Chamber of Commerce.
The awards dinner is scheduled for Nov. 5, when the Chamber plans to recognize 10 community leaders through its ATHENA and ATHENA Young Professional awards.
Ten leaders to receive ATHENA recognition
The dinner will be held at Finger Lakes Community College.
The ATHENA honorees are Arlene Eddington, a retired teacher and co-founder of Geneva Breathes; Jennifer Carlson, president and CEO of FLACRA; Johnelle Keck, director of medical/surgical nursing at UR Medicine Thompson Health; and Kate Ott, director of Ontario County Public Health.
Also being honored are Jacqueline Tiermini, director of the Finger Lakes MOSAIC Collective and chair of the Humanities Department at FLCC; Kimberle Ward, coordinator of adult education at FLCC; and Megan Webster, district manager at the Ontario County Soil and Water Conservation District.
The ATHENA Young Professional Award honorees are Samantha Boccacino, FLCC's director of athletics; Alexa Dow Carroll, director of nursing for intensive care, observation and diagnostic imaging at UR Medicine Thompson Health; and Caitlin Langmead, a certified public accountant and principal at MMB+CO.

Give-back initiative supports Safe Harbors
This year's ATHENA Give Back Initiative will benefit Safe Harbors of the Finger Lakes.
The Chamber is collecting new, unopened items at its office at 113 S. Main St. in Canandaigua during regular business hours.
Leadership Ontario begins in September
Leadership Ontario's fifth cohort will begin with a two-day retreat Sept. 10 and 11 at 4-H Camp Bristol Hills.
The 21 participants will spend 10 months working on personal and professional growth while learning about Ontario County. The curriculum covers the county's demographics, government, education, economy, health care and other local subjects.
Headshots and networking round out the calendar
The Chamber will hold its Headshot Happy Hour on Sept. 22 at Sonnenberg Mansion and Gardens State Historic Park. Chesler Photography will take professional photos using the mansion and gardens as a backdrop, and participants may have a glass of wine before or after their session. Registration is available through the Chamber.
The next ONMixer is scheduled for Sept. 17 at The Central on Main, hosted by the Canandaigua Business Improvement District.
The mixer will feature small bites and specialty samples from downtown restaurants, wine from Acquilano Wine Cellars, craft beer from Peacemaker Brewing Company, nonalcoholic refreshments and live music by Steve West. Giveaways will include Buffalo Bills merchandise, gift certificates and gift baskets.
Admission to the mixer is $5 per person, and registration is available through the Chamber.
