A white coat ceremony welcomed 105 members of the Class of 2030 to Rochester on Friday, marking the start of their professional training.
Students received their first white coats during the 21st annual Brent White Coat Ceremony at Kilbourn Hall. The class includes students from 27 states and other countries who collectively speak 24 languages.
The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry organized the ceremony. Members of the class graduated from 59 colleges and universities, and 68% are age 23 or older.
Speakers included medical school Dean David Linehan, student Nick Lahue, faculty member Caren Gellin and Senior Associate Dean David Lambert.
The ceremony was Lambert's final one in his administrative role as he prepares to step down from the position. The event marks the start of medical training for the Class of 2030.
