Michael Rulffes, president and chief operating officer of Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, has been named to Becker's Hospital Review's 2026 list of community hospital CEOs to know.
Rochester Regional Health said the national recognition highlights Rulffes' leadership in expanding access to care, strengthening services and supporting the role of community hospitals.
Rulffes also serves as president and chief operating officer of Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic. His responsibilities include strategy, operations and workforce culture at both hospitals.
Under his leadership, Newark-Wayne has maintained its designation as a Primary Stroke Center and its Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders Exemplar status, according to Rochester Regional Health.
The hospital also received the American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines Gold Plus recognition for stroke care and a Rural Stroke Gold honor.
Rochester Regional Health CEO Richard Davis said Rulffes has worked to improve access to care and strengthen community partnerships. Rulffes credited the recognition to hospital employees and their work providing care close to home.
