Audi has unveiled its new flagship SUV, the 2027 Audi Q9, which will sit above the Q7 and give the brand a direct competitor to the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS and Range Rover. The full-size model combines three-row practicality with a refined cabin, strong performance, and advanced technology. Developed with North American customers in mind, its generous space and flexible seating should also attract luxury SUV buyers worldwide.
Audi Q9 Luxury SUV Offers More Space for Families
The Audi Q9 luxury SUV is available with six- or seven-seat layouts. The standard arrangement uses a second-row bench, while the optional configuration adds two individually adjustable captain’s chairs. Audi says all three second-row positions in the seven-seat version can accommodate child seats, making the vehicle more useful for parents and caregivers. The third-row seatbacks can also fold electrically, allowing owners to switch quickly between passenger room and cargo space.
Think Big With Flexible Seating
Comfort is a major part of the Q9’s premium positioning. Available front seats add ventilation and massage functions, while the individual second-row seats can include ventilation and electric adjustment. Wide-opening doors improve access to the rear rows, and available power-operated doors can be controlled through several methods. Sensors can stop a door when an obstacle, cyclist, or nearby vehicle is detected.
Panoramic Sunroof Creates an Airy Cabin
A large panoramic sunroof adds natural light throughout the cabin. Audi says the roof measures about 1.5 square meters and includes nine individually adjustable glass sections that can turn opaque to reduce glare. Higher trims add roof lighting with multiple color choices, helping the interior feel more personal during nighttime travel.
Premium Technology and Sound
The dashboard uses an 11.9-inch digital instrument display, a 14.5-inch center touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch passenger display. The Android-based infotainment system supports third-party apps and Amazon Alexa integration. An available Bang & Olufsen 4D audio system uses 22 speakers, headrest speakers, and seat-mounted actuators to create a more immersive listening experience.
Powerful Engines and Quattro Capability
For the United States, the Q9 uses a turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 producing 429 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive. Audi estimates a 4.9-second run from zero to 60 mph. The performance-focused SQ9 receives a 591-horsepower twin-turbo V8. Both models can tow up to 7,700 pounds, adding practical value for buyers traveling with boats, trailers, or recreational equipment.
