Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association is seeking volunteers for a native planting project at Clute Park in Watkins Glen on July 24.
The work will begin at 9 a.m. and is expected to take two to three hours, according to the organization.
Volunteers will carry potted native shrubs and other plants to designated areas and place them in the soil. The plants are not expected to be heavy, and the work is open to individuals, families and community groups.
The organization said native plants can reduce stormwater runoff, improve water quality, stabilize soil and provide habitat for pollinators and wildlife.
Participants are encouraged to bring a shovel, water and appropriate clothing for outdoor work. Registration information is available through Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association at info@senecalake.org or 315-620-5534.
