A new mural celebrating Wayland's history is now complete on North Main Street, according to the Hornell Tribune. Artist Corinn Marriott signed and dated the mural July 9 after years of planning and fundraising.
The mural includes references to the village's agricultural roots, school mascot, the President's Chair made by Gunlocke, Rogers and Tenbrook, Bennett's Buick and other local history.
The Wayland Historical Society received a $5,275 grant from the Arts Council of the Southern Finger Lakes to help launch the project. Additional money came from local businesses and individuals.
