The list recognizes towns with populations under 25,000 that offer notable connections to American history. USA Today 10Best cited Seneca Falls' 19th-century architecture and its role in the women's rights movement.

The write-up also highlighted historic homes, local museums and the National Women's Hall of Fame as examples of the town's enduring character.

Seneca Falls was the only New York community included in the 2026 ranking. Granbury, Texas, was ranked No. 1, followed by Ruston, Louisiana; Ludington, Michigan; Abilene, Kansas; Mackinac Island, Michigan; and Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
