Cornell Cooperative Extension of Seneca County will host a Christmas in July Workshop on Thursday, July 9, at the Seneca Falls Community Center.
The workshop will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at 35 Water St. and will focus on turning summer garden produce and farmers market items into preserved, dried or infused holiday gifts.
Participants will learn through hands-on demonstrations led by CCE Seneca Master Food Preservers. The workshop will cover how to make jam, pickled vegetables, seasoning, cookies in a jar and other giftable food items.
"Now is the time to begin to create holiday gifts with heartful meaning," said Christina Ehlers, CCE Seneca nutrition and human ecology educator. "Using local products whether you grow or purchase them, provides a connection to the land and a chance to revisit summer's bounty!"
The cost is $15 per person. Registration is required and space is limited.
Registration is available online through CCE Seneca. People without internet access, or those who need accommodations, can call the office at 315-539-9251.
CCE Seneca said it also provides food safety information and online food preservation safety resources.
