Summer heat might still be sweltering in the city. Yet, for die-hard fans in the Big Apple, a cooler season approaches. The New York Rangers have announced their 2026 preseason schedule. It is time to circle dates on your calendars. The long offseason brought draft predictions and free agency rumors. Now, the boys in blue are ready to hit the ice. You might want to see new draft picks lace up their skates. Or maybe you just miss the electric atmosphere of Madison Square Garden. Either way, this schedule is built to thrill. The six-game lineup is packed with classic Eastern Conference rivalries.
Why Rangers Preseason Hockey is a Must-Watch
Preseason hockey is a completely different beast than the regular season. The final score on the jumbotron matters less. Instead, watch the franchise’s future take shape in real-time. This year, the Rangers bring an exciting mix to training camp. Expect seasoned veterans playing alongside incredibly hungry young talent. Fans should watch the intense roster battles closely. “Highly touted prospects always fight hard for a permanent position.” They are looking for a spot on the bottom six or the defensive blue line.
A Rangers schedule must also include the New Jersey Devils. Expect the Hudson River Rivalry’s intensity to be cranked all the way up. This happens even with no official points on the line. Coaches will also use these crucial warm-up games for testing. They need to try new power-play and penalty-kill strategies before opening night. Plus, preseason games remain a fantastic value. You can take the family to MSG to see tomorrow’s stars. Best of all, you get to avoid paying premium regular-season prices.
