Two charged after cocaine found during Canandaigua traffic stop

Two people were arrested Tuesday night after Ontario County sheriff’s deputies allegedly found suspected cocaine during a traffic stop in the Town of Canandaigua.

Brittany Christine Brown, 37, of Brockport, and Jason Duane Herington, 43, of Clifton Springs, were each charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance following the stop on State Route 332, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the arrests stemmed from a traffic stop conducted at approximately 10:34 p.m. Tuesday near 2475 State Route 332. During the investigation, deputies allegedly discovered a white powder-like substance in the possession of Brown and Herington. A field test produced a positive result for cocaine, according to the sheriff’s office.

Both individuals were taken into custody without incident and later issued appearance tickets. They are scheduled to answer the charges in Canandaigua Town Court at a later date.
