Frustration over the stalled future of the former Willard Drug Treatment Campus boiled over last week, according to the Finger Lakes Times. Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan urged Seneca County leaders to keep pressuring Gov. Kathy Hochul’s administration to make a decision on the long-vacant property.
Gallahan said progress remains impossible until state officials answer basic questions about ownership and control of the 550-acre campus. The site, which includes roughly 75 buildings, has sat in limbo for years as local officials have struggled to secure approval for a redevelopment plan.
Gallahan pledged to spend his remaining months in office helping county leaders push for action. A state-backed redevelopment proposal unveiled in 2024 collapsed when no developer stepped forward to tackle a project of the campus’s size and cost.
