Midlakes High School has announced its top academic honors for the Class of 2026, naming Jonathan Capozzi as valedictorian and Maya Stevenson as salutatorian.
Capozzi plans to attend Canisius University, where he will study forensic accounting and cybersecurity. During his time at Midlakes, he played four years of varsity baseball and served as defensive captain during the 2025-26 season. He also served as co-president of his class and became the first ex officio student representative on the district’s Board of Education.
In addition to his academic achievements, Capozzi has been active in the National Honor Society, the Graduates of Distinction Committee and a variety of community leadership roles. He has also participated in local and congressional political campaigns and plans to remain engaged in civic affairs while attending college.
Stevenson plans to attend Nazareth University to study physical therapy and dance. School officials said she balanced a rigorous academic schedule while pursuing her passion for dance and participating in varsity cheerleading.
She also served as senior class co-vice president, participated in the National Honor Society, tutored middle school students and volunteered in the community throughout her high school career.
