Empire Fiber Internet says its ongoing expansion in Victor will bring fiber-optic internet access to more than 2,000 homes and businesses as the company continues building out infrastructure across Ontario County and the Finger Lakes region.
The company announced Wednesday that construction and network expansion efforts are continuing throughout 2026, with additional neighborhoods expected to come online in Victor and surrounding communities over time.
Empire Fiber officials said the expansion is designed to improve access to high-speed, reliable internet service for residents and businesses that previously lacked fiber connectivity options.
CEO Kevin Dickens said the investment is intended to support growing demands tied to remote work, online learning, streaming, telehealth and business operations.
Empire Fiber operates a 100% fiber-optic network offering symmetrical upload and download speeds, which differs from many traditional cable internet systems that provide significantly slower upload performance.
The company also highlighted its locally staffed customer support operation, saying customers have access to around-the-clock technical assistance from regional support teams.
Empire Fiber traces its roots back to 1896 in Prattsburgh and has expanded service throughout portions of New York and Pennsylvania in recent years. The company currently offers residential and business internet plans ranging from 500 Mbps to 2 Gig service.
Finger Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce President Miranda Odell said the expansion represents an important investment for local businesses and residents who increasingly rely on stable high-speed internet access.
The Victor expansion is part of a broader push by fiber providers to increase broadband availability throughout upstate New York as demand for higher-capacity internet infrastructure continues growing.
