Geneva City Council to tackle 2027 budget direction, manager transition in special meeting

Geneva City Council members will gather tonight for a special meeting focused on two issues likely to shape the city’s direction over the next year: The 2027 budget process and the ongoing transition in the city manager’s office.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. May 27 in the second-floor conference room at City Hall on Castle Street. According to the published agenda, council members will discuss preliminary budget direction for 2027 as well as matters related to the city manager transition.

The budget discussion comes after weeks of heightened attention surrounding Geneva’s financial outlook following recent revisions to projected deficit figures in the current budget cycle. City officials have been weighing spending priorities and long-term fiscal planning amid continued pressure on municipal finances.

Council will also discuss the transition in city leadership following recent changes involving the city manager’s office, though the agenda provides few additional details about what specifically will be addressed publicly.

An executive session is also scheduled to discuss the employment of a particular person, according to the agenda.

The meeting will be streamed through the City of Geneva’s YouTube channel.
