Thursday’s sectional slate brought plenty of tense postseason moments across the Wayne-Finger Lakes, with several local teams surviving and advancing in dramatic fashion.
Mets split doubleheader with Braves Bloomfield softball edged Byron-Bergen in a back-and-forth battle highlighted by Addison Falsone’s three-run performance and a clutch defensive relay play at the plate. In boys lacrosse, Canandaigua opened postseason play with a convincing win behind four goals from Kyle Farrington, while Waterloo advanced in Class D as Kyle Shangraw and Jaidyn Ellison powered the offense. On the tennis courts, East Rochester, Bloomfield, and Naples all captured sectional titles, and Marcus Whitman girls lacrosse moved on behind a six-point outing from Lily Aylett.

The Bombers held off the Bees in a back-and-forth sectional battle behind three runs scored from Addison Falsone. Calla McCombs highlighted the Bloomfield offense with a triple, while Maddie Wilson, Ellie Pleace, and Loghan Nowak also collected hits. The Bombers also came up with a key defensive play in the fifth inning, as a relay from McCombs to Falsone to Wilson cut down a runner at the plate to end the threat.
