A bitter fight over the former Wells College campus in Aurora isn’t over yet, according to The Citizen.
Harriet Higgins, whose bid to buy the property was rejected, asked Cayuga County Court to block the $12.5 million sale to the Hiawatha Institute for Indigenous Knowledge. Her attorney also requested a temporary restraining order to stop the deal from closing.
Wells College attorneys called the effort frivolous and accused Higgins’ group of trying to derail the court-approved sale through delays. A judge already ruled Higgins lacked standing earlier this year, but she’s now returned with legal representation and updated nonprofit paperwork.
