Bath man charged after reported domestic assault around children

Bath man charged after reported domestic assault around children

A Bath man was arrested Thursday morning after police say he assaulted his wife in front of their children during a domestic incident on East Washington Street.

Village of Bath police responded to the residence around 6:19 a.m. for a report of a physical domestic dispute in progress. Officers investigating the incident determined that a female victim had allegedly been assaulted by her husband and suffered physical injuries.

Police charged Robert A. Stevens, 32, of Bath, with third-degree assault, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation. All charges are Class A misdemeanors.

Authorities said the incident occurred in the presence of the couple’s children.

Stevens was processed and transported to the Steuben County Jail for CAP arraignment before being released on the charges.
