Students across four districts honored at Bee You Awards ceremony

Dozens of middle and high school students from across southern Cayuga County were recognized this month for leadership, compassion, and community impact during an annual awards ceremony aimed at celebrating the best qualities in young people.

Cayuga Lake National Bank hosted its fourth annual Bee You Awards on April 14 at Union Springs High School, honoring students in grades 6 through 12 from Lansing, Moravia, Southern Cayuga, and Union Springs school districts.

The program highlights students who demonstrate traits such as kindness, empathy, dedication, and leadership, with nominees selected for the positive influence they have on their peers and communities.

Award recipients were recognized in front of family and friends, with organizers sharing brief remarks about each student’s contributions. All honorees received certificates and gift bags, while also being entered into raffles for additional prizes.

Four $100 Visa gift cards — one for each participating school district — were awarded through a raffle supported by AFLAC and a district sales coordinator. A separate grand prize drawing awarded $1,000, donated by Cayuga Lake National Bank.

Among the top prize winners, Joseph Campbell of Union Springs Central School District received the $1,000 grand prize. Gift card winners included Parker Corbett of Lansing, Hailee Turcsik of Moravia, Kaylynn Sibley Cater of Southern Cayuga, and Baeleigh Youngman of Union Springs.

The Bee You Awards have grown into an annual tradition recognizing students not just for academic success, but for the character and values they bring to their schools and communities.
