Career Day in Geneva to connect students with employers, colleges

Hundreds of high school students from across the Finger Lakes are expected to gather in Geneva later this month for an event focused on career exploration and workforce connections.

The Second Impact Foundation will host Finger Lakes Career Day on Friday, April 24 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Geneva Recreation Complex on Exchange Street.

Open to students in grades 10 through 12, the event will feature representatives from more than 60 organizations, including employers, colleges, trade groups and military branches, offering insight into a wide range of career paths.

Organizers expect about 500 students from 12 high schools to attend this year, down from roughly 700 students from 20 schools in 2025 — a decline attributed in part to financial pressures facing school districts, including funding gaps and reduced resources for extracurricular programs.

Participants will have opportunities to interact directly with professionals in fields such as healthcare, education, skilled trades, law enforcement and environmental work, as well as explore postsecondary education options.

The event is organized in partnership with Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes and supported by several community organizations.
