The Lyons Lions added another trophy to their collection Saturday, rolling past Geneseo, 87-59, in the Class C1 championship at the Blue Cross Arena to secure their 23rd sectional title and seventh since 2018.
Top-seeded Lyons wasted little time taking control. The Lions scored 13 seconds into the game and never trailed, building a nine-point lead after the first quarter and extending it to 35-23 at halftime. Senior Stephen LeBrecht fueled the early surge, scoring 20 of Lyons’ first-half points. The Lions pushed the margin to 16 by the end of the third quarter and cruised through the final period.
LeBrecht finished with a game-high 30 points and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, leading four Lyons players in double figures. Sophomore Jah’Zyree Smith scored 18 points, including 12 in the second half, while senior Jamire Johnson added 17 and delivered a highlight-reel dunk. Senior Contrell Parker Jr. chipped in 12 points. Smith, Johnson, and Parker earned All-Tournament honors, while Stavell LeBrecht received the sportsmanship award.
Oren Ray led Geneseo with 15 points, while Avery Hepler and Cameron Caroccio each added eight.
Lyons improved to 22-2 and will face Honeoye in the Class C Far West Regional qualifier on Wednesday at Finger Lakes Community College, with tipoff set for 7 p.m.
