Deputies arrested a Penn Yan woman following an investigation into animal cruelty in the Town of Torrey.
Crystal Fiero, 43, was taken into custody March 4 in Penn Yan on six counts of animal cruelty under New York Agriculture and Markets Law.
According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, the charges stem from an investigation that began in January at a residence in Torrey.
Deputies said Fiero was found in possession of five dogs and a cat that were being kept in unsafe and unsanitary living conditions.
Authorities seized all six animals and transported them to a humane society facility to be examined and cared for.
Fiero was issued an appearance ticket and released. She is scheduled to appear in Torrey Town Court at a later date.
