Ithaca polar plunge supports Special Olympics

A chilly jump into Cayuga Lake will help raise money for athletes with disabilities later this month, according to WENY.

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office plans to take part in the Ithaca Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics New York. The fundraiser helps cover training, activities and competitions for athletes at no cost to them or their families.

The plunge is set for March 21 at Taughannock State Park Beach in Trumansburg. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., with participants expected to take the plunge at noon.
