Seneca Falls, union plan final talks

A long-running contract dispute in Seneca Falls could soon wrap up. Town officials and the Civil Service Employees Association plan to meet again to try to finalize a deal, according to the Finger Lakes Times.

Town Supervisor Frank Schmitter and union representative Stephanie Engster said both sides believe they’re close to an agreement. They plan to hold another negotiation session without a state mediator after a December meeting failed to produce a deal.

Negotiations began in April 2025 after town workers formed the union. Key sticking points have included work hours, pay for one job title, and health insurance for the roughly 40 employees the union represents.
